~The Basics~
Name: Rapunzel
Nicknames: Um, no thanks
Gender: Female
Age: Sixteen going on seventeen
~The Miscellany~
Family: Two parents (as most people begin), and crazy Aunt Gothel
Canon: Rapunzel
~The Big Stuff~
Appearance: Rapunzel is a beautiful girl with blue eyes, pale skin and a bright, friendly smile. Her most distinguishing feature, though, is her tremendously long mane of golden hair. When braided, her hair has the strength and more of any rope, yet somehow she doesn’t feel it’s weight.
When it comes to clothes, Rapunzel is always the height (no pun intended) of fashion. She prefers dresses and skirts to trousers and shorts, but if they show off her legs or make her butt look good then she was willing to branch out.
Personality: Rapunzel, to put it nicely, is not the brightest star in the sky. She’s usually nice and sweet, but has a penchant for jealousy that can bring out quite the mean streak in her, but in that thinly veiled sort of way.
Now, just because she’s got her head in the clouds (ba dum bum) doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her issues. Claustrophobic, and Acrophobic, keep her away from small spaces and heights or you may have a case of hysteria on your hands. Oh, and she would like it know that she is an exceptionally beautiful singer.
History: Rapunzel’s parents so desperately wanted a child and so, after years of trying, when they were finally blessed with a little girl of their very own, they spoiled her rotten. They spared no expense, lavishing upon her the prettiest dresses and the nicest dolls, rarely denying her anything. They never corrected her, never told her she was wrong, always let her win at everything, so she grew up with a very sheltered view of life. She was always popular, had tonnes of friends, but she was too dim and naive, too trusting, to realise most of her friends only spent time with her so they could borrow her clothes and play with her toys.
It was a charmed life, to be sure, but it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. Ever since she could remember she was haunted by the most horrible nightmares. In these dreams she was taken from her parents by an evil witch who locked her up in a tiny room in the tallest tower you could imagine. She would wake up screaming and crying and her parents would comfort her, reassure her, and buy her something new the next day. The only time they ever scolded her in her life was when she tried to tell them her Aunt was the witch who was going to steal her away.
All in all life was good until her sixteenth birthday. After her guests had gone home and she was left to her gifts while her parents and aunt cleaned up, Rapunzel overheard a rather disturbing conversation. Her Aunt was accusing her parents of such atrocities such as spoiling her and ruining her. Then she proposed an idea that made the girl’s blood run cold: she suggested - no, demanded - that Rapunzel come live with her so she could reverse the damage they had done. Bursting into the room, the birthday girl tried to argue, but to her utmost horror her parents agreed, and they would not be swayed. She would pack her things and leave the next day.
That night Rapunzel dreamt again, that same dream only more vivid, more terrifying. This time when she awoke in the middle of the night she did not call out to her parents for comfort. This time she packed as many of her things as she could into her set of luggage and snuck off into the night.
With so much luggage her trip was slow going, but somehow it didn’t seem to bother her. It was almost like she was being drawn somewhere...
~The Final Touches~
RP Sample:
This was the place. She wasn’t sure what place or how she knew that this was it, but she just knew. This was where she had been heading, and where she was supposed to be. Luckily she had never been much for asking ‘why’.
Rolling her two suitcases along behind her, Rapunzel stopped at the first building she reached and took a breather. She really hoped this place had a nice hotel with a nice bathroom and, most importantly, hot water. She felt disgusting and dirty and even her golden hair that she took so much pride in seemed dull and lifeless. Plus, she really wanted out of these smelly trainers. Hardly the height of fashion, but unfortunately necessary for the trip.
Leaving her bags on the side of the road, she marched up the steps of the first building and rapped solidly on the door. Ever the trusting one, it never occurred to her that this might not be a good idea. But then again, she had travelled all this way, a young girl all on her own, so why should she start to worry now? It was like something had been helping her along, making sure she got here... or something.
Again, luckily, she had never been much for asking ‘why’.
Have you read the rules: Can’t keep a good myth down!
Anything you'd like to add: I wasn’t completely clear on the incarnation/reincarnation bit, so I hope I got the history alright here
