~The Basics~
Name: Athena Clara Murphy
Nicknames: Thena, I suppose.
Gender: Female
Age: Twenty Four
~The Miscellany~
Family: She grew up in a rather large family; it's quite complicated with her parents, seeing as her dad has a habit of remarrying once every five to ten years. And he had a huge family already, she's got several cousins, aunts and uncles running around, including her younger cousin Persephone.
Canon: Greek Mythology
~The Big Stuff~
Appearance: The term "as wise as she is beautiful" comes to mind when it comes to Athena. It's not really like she puts too much effort into it, but it's safe to assume that being the reincarnation of a goddess has something to do with it. In spite of her tendencies to wear clothes that are appropriate for working out and such, she still manages to look lovely. Her blonde hair tends to fall into near perfect waves, her clear skin has the healthy glow of someone who spends a lot of time outside (which is pretty true), and a combination of genes and general athleticism does her body good. She's also quite tall, though not enough that she's towering over too many boys, which she secretly is annoyed by.
Personality: Having a lot of things going for you does have its disadvantages. The fact of the matter is that Athena doesn't play well with others. You look at her cross eyed (ESPECIALLY if it's in a way that would demand an "My eyes are up here" comment) and you might actually be blinded. She's a freaking livewire, almost to the point where most people would think of her as absolutely crazy. Additionally, she thinks very highly of herself, and the mere mention of someone who may be better than her will probably send her into a jealous rage. She takes great pride in being so good at everything she does, and it just bothers her if she has competition in any area whatsoever. Yet what's worse than that is when people dare try to make her feel bad for her talents. There have been many a girly girl and shallow boy to call her names, and....well, it didn't end well. Know that when you're messing with Athena, it probably won't end well for you.
In many cases, it's easy for people to mistake Athena for some kind of machine, but the fact is that she actually puts a lot of thought into things when she can afford it. It just so happens that when she thinks she can afford it is probably different from most people. She's quite impulsive actually, and seeing as she has a temper to match, even if she doesn't blind you, you could still end up with a black eye if you startle her. She has a strong tendency to overreact to situations.
It's really not like she's a bad person, she just finds it very difficult to function with other people. It's like her brain was hardwired for rules that aren't what human society is. When she's in one of her calm moods, which is more of a common occurrence than one may first assume, she's actually pretty reasonable, and she always tries to make up for when she realizes she was out of line. She has a strong sense of justice and morality, for one thing. She wouldn't simply treat someone badly if she felt they didn't deserve it, after all! But in all seriousness, she can be quite pleasant when she's in the right mood...mind you, she seems to be at her calmest when she's mothering her milk snake Erica, which tends to creep people out and she doesn't even realize it. For the incarnation of the Goddess of Wisdom, she can be a little clueless about people unless they're opponents.
History: Athena's family life couldn't exactly be called the most stable. She was actually the product of a fling that her father had when he was right in the middle of divorcing his first wife. To say that it was an awkward hospital room when she was being born would be a major understatement. Yet in spite of what many psychologists would say about this, it never seemed to bother the small child. She was too busy with far more important matters, like appearing the prodigy to most of her family. Even as a toddler, she seemed far more mature than others...not to say she never threw tantrums. It just so happened that people she was angry with seemed to have an odd habit of disappearing for a day or two, and when they reappeared, they seemed frazzled as all hell, sometimes like they couldn't use their legs. It was bizarre to say the least, and Athena knew it was weird. Especially when she finally did some investigating, realizing that the prissy ballet bitch she was arguing with had turned into a spider. Seeing as this sort of thing was hard to explain, Athena let the grown ups
And it didn't stop at turning people into creepy crawlies; was how quickly she seemed to learn things, enough that she wound up skipping a couple of grades. Or how that free karate class her Girl Scouts troup felt so right, how much she wanted to jump right into combat in spite of it being more about warm ups and telling them what karate was all about. By the time she was sixteen, she was on the verge of graduation, had a black belt and was seriously thinking of taking up more self defense classes. There was just something about figuring out how to outwit an opponent that appealed to her, and for whatever reason, school was just way too easy for her.
Yet having all school come so easily to her turned out to be a double edged sword. What on earth was she supposed to do with her life? That was why she decided that a gap year would be a wise choice...and the odd thing was? She felt the strongest urge to travel, and not just anywhere. This, eventually, led her to The Town. She never meant to stay, but there was something about the abandoned, decrepit town that spoke to her. With her new pet snake, Erica, she spend some time in this abandoned world...and it wasn't long at all before things about her life began to make perfect sense, that the Greek goddess of wisdom wasn't just her namesake.
Right now she's teaching at the school. It's not ideal, but hey, someone's got to help these poor mythlings grow some brains, right?
~The Final Touches~
RP Sample: Well, at least this way she could actually do something productive with her ample, depressing free time. Alyss was no expert on astronomy and wasn't even taking a class in it, but she had thought that perhaps this might do something to put her life into perspective, being able to see all of those gorgeous stars and galaxies through the eyes of this brilliant telescope...surely it would remind her that there was beauty to be had in life? That her problems were insignificant in the grand scheme of things, that things would simply get better...
Yet as she looked at the sky, at all of the stars...all she felt was lonely. Even those giant balls of hot air billions of miles away from this tower weren't alone, not really. If they had souls and feelings, they would enjoy the fact that they were in good company. She never thought she'd say this, but the stars were so lucky. So far away from this world and hardly alone, even if the universe was mostly space...
Because who did she really have? Oh sure, she could tell that Della girl was trying, and she occassionally spoke with Cazaril, but he was always so busy, and it was just...awkward to speak to the girl that she had been so jealous of for an entire year...and she didn't even want to think about Dodge's disappearance. If that didn't make it clear that what they had all those years ago was dead, she was sadly growing delusional. He didn't love her as she loved him, obviously...it was all truly over, and she was alone, wasn't she?
It was at this point where she recalled something she had been trying to bury into the deepest recesses of her mind, but it had been haunting her since the masquerade...why was it that events at masquerades always seemed to do that? In the cold air, Alyss felt the need to hug herself, not just for a need for heat...because right now, she was the only one who COULD hug her...or was she? Redd had said she would offer the sort of family she had been starved of all those years....
But she was the REASON she didn't have the parents that she had truly lost so many memories of! She was the one who had destroyed her entire existence...but then again, she was also the only one who was showing any interest in her at all, any desire to actually come to her aid...God, she was so confused...
And was it only her paranoia, or did she hear footsteps behind her? Alyss turned on her heel.
Have you read the rules: You can't keep a good myth down.
Anything you'd like to add: Hiiiiiiiiii guys! ^_^ Also, I've never played a goddess before and if I overdid it on things she's good at, PLEASE let me know, I'd hate to start off with a Sue.
